Electrophoresis Applications
TAE buffer is used in agarose gel electrophoresis and Polyacrylamide gels both as a buffer and a component of a gel. Can be used for both genomic and large supercoiled DNA. TAE buffer has a relatively low buffering capacity therefore buffer should be replaced periodically during long electrophoresis runs. Offered in different concentration for all common biological applications.
TBE is the most commonly used buffer for DNA and RNA electrophoresis. Since borate is a strong inhibitor of enzymes, TBE is recommended for DNA/RNA sizing, not for recovery of DNA for enzymatic applications. Routinely used for DNA automated sequencing gels. Used both as a running buffer and gel preparation buffer. Recommended for use with fragments smaller than 1500bp.

EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) is a polyamino carboxylic acid, commonly used to deactivate metal dependent enzymes, or as a chelating agent that binds to metal ions. Suitable for RNA storage. Offered in different molar concentration for all common biological applications.
Suitable for the removal of small nucleic acids fragments from plasmid DNA preparations and precipitation of DNA from SDS-containing samples. Widely used in protein crystallization and in the determination of heavy and transition metals in biochemical samples by ion chromatography.
3M Sodium Acetate. Ready-to-use sterile solution made with 18 megOhm water, 0.2 micron sterile filtered, pH adjusted to 5.5 with Glacial Acetic acid. Ideal for DNA purification
Borate buffer is ideal for gel electrophoresis of DNA or RNA. Used as prefered solution in the equilibration solution in DMP (dimethyl pimelimidate) crosslinking reactions

Tris Buffered Saline (TBS) is a solution commonly used in biological and biochemical research. It consists of Tris (tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane), which is a buffering agent that maintains the pH of the solution, and Saline (sodium chloride, NaCl), which provides the ionic strength similar to that of physiological fluids.
- Buffering: Maintains a stable pH environment for biological reactions.
- Washing: Used to wash membranes in Western blotting.
- Dilution: Acts as a diluent for antibodies and other reagents.
Nuclease free TE is used to solubilize DNA/RNA while providing protection from degradation. It provides great buffering capabilities for electrophoresis and can be used for general storage of nucleic acids.
